Treat Skin Irritations With Tea Tree Lotion

Tea Tree Lotion

The skin can be irritated due to cold weather, fungal infections and a dry climate. People with sensitive skin are most likely to suffer from skin irritations which may even be worsened by using chemically based products. If you are afraid of experiencing further skin irritation due to the presence of chemicals in skin care products, you can use tea tree lotion as a treatment. This oil is gentle on the skin if used in the correct concentrations and will not cause undesirable side effects.  You can either purchase lotions with tea tree oil or create a homemade lotion using the essential oil. Tea tree oil can cure many health conditions and experts often recommend using pure tea tree oil because some tea tree oil lotion on the market does not have enough concentration of tea tree oil to soothe irritated skin. To ensure that you benefit fully from tea tree oil, it is best to create your own lotion at home. Use un-perfumed lotion and a bottle of 100% tea tree oil. To maximize the effectiveness of the oil, be sure to blend one teaspoon of tea tree oil with every 32 oz. of lotion.

You can perform an allergy test by applying a small amount of the lotion on the un-irritated area of your skin. The test will determine whether or not you are allergic to the lotion. If the lotion did not produce any allergic reactions, you may begin using the lotion twice each day for a two week period. You will get better results if you consistently use the lotion. Although tea tree oil is considered safe for everyday use, it should not be taken orally because it can be poisonous. When accidentally swallowed, immediately seek medical attention.

You may also lessen the tea tree oil concentration if you find it too strong for you. There should only be 5% concentration of tea tree oil for every 2 milliliters of lotion, which equals about one drop of tea tree oil. If you want your lotion a bit stronger, you can add another drop. Experimentation will tell you what level of concentrations is going to be good for your particular skin.  Try to find the highest quality of tea tree oil on the market.

Tea tree lotion should only be used on mild cases of irritation. If there is no improvement in your skin condition, consulting a physician would be the best advice. You should also determine the factors that may have caused the allergy to occur in the first place as applying the lotion alone may not help solve the problem.
