The anti-fungal properties of tea tree oil make it an effective cure for fungal infections. It is taken from a plant native to Australia and the plant undergoes steam distillation for the oil to be extracted. Several studies have been conducted to prove the effectiveness of tea tree oil in combating fungal infections. Tea tree oil fungus treatment is said to be effective against ringworm, candida, nail fungus and athlete’s foot. These fungal infections are sometimes hard to deal with and sometimes you may have no alternative but to treat them with prescription medications for a couple of months to get rid of them completely.
The methods of application depend on the kind of fungal growth you have. For example, if you have athlete’s foot, two drops of tea tree oil should be combined with ten drops of the carrier oil. Rub the mixture on the affected area. Aside from carrier oil, you can also mix tea tree oil with baking soda.
For ringworm, combine four drops of tea tree oil with ten drops of the carrier oil and massage on the area twice each day. Only place one drop of tea tree oil in twenty drops of distilled water for yeast infections. The use of tea tree oil should be discontinued if irritation is experienced.
Aside from a carrier oil, you can also add tea tree oil to shampoo, soap, cleaning solution, toothpaste and mouthwash. You can also wash fungal infections such as athlete’s foot with tea tree oil soap twice a day. As a general rule, tea tree oil should only be used as a topical treatment and should not be ingested as it is toxic and may cause serious damage. An infection may improve if you apply 100% pure tea tree oil though it is usually applied diluted. Mixing the oil with other compounds can reduce its effectiveness in fighting fungal infections.
Immediately stop using tea tree oil if you are not seeing any improvement in your fungal infection. Use other types of natural and prescription treatment instead. You should also watch out for products that claim to have 100% tea tree oil. Read the label as you might be allergic to other components of the product.
Tea tree oil fungus treatment may be effective for fungal infections but it might not work for all. Results may still vary and the use of prescription treatment may be required to successfully treat such skin conditions.
