Dandruff[i] is an embarrassing condition that can affect your self-confidence. It is due to a fungus that feeds on oil secretion in the hair. This can lead to flaking which can worsen when you scratch your scalp especially when it becomes really itchy. Dandruff shampoos are more commonly used to treat dandruff but due to the presence of chemicals in these shampoos, the scalp can often become more irritated. Natural remedies for dandruff can be an alternative to chemical based shampoos, one of which is tea tree oil dandruff shampoo. You can either buy dandruff shampoos with tea tree oil or add pure tea tree oil into your shampoo to get rid of dandruff.
You can mix 10 drops of tea tree oil for every 8 oz of shampoo. The mixture should be used daily until dandruff disappears. Tea tree oil for dandruff can improve your scalp condition but you need to use it for four consecutive weeks to get rid of the dandruff completely. When the scalp has dandruff, it can become even more sensitive to chemicals and undiluted tea tree oil may worsen your dandruff problem.
You only need to add 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil for every 32 ounces of shampoo. Remember to follow the correct formula as high concentrations of tea tree oil in shampoos may cause irritation. There should only be 5% tea tree oil solution or 50 drops of tea tree oil for 100 mL of shampoo. To get the correct formula divide the number of milliliters by two and the result will be the number of oil drops you are going to add into the shampoo.
Tea tree oil dandruff shampoo provides a solution to scalp problems but if you want quicker results, using dandruff shampoos with chemicals to reduce itchiness and flaking is also a good way of treating dandruff.
