A person’s face is the first thing another person sees. It works in the same way as a billboard. With just a glance, a person can already see most of the imperfections on the face and make judgments. This is why some people would spend a large amount of money, going to spas and salons, to avail of treatments to make their face appear cleaner and more youthful. A facial treatment is one of the more popular services people avail when going into the spa. Besides removing some of the dirt and grime that may have accumulated on the face, a facial is a way of relieving the stress. There are numerous conditions which can make the face look unclean and not presentable. One of these conditions includes acne.
Acne is one of the more common skin diseases that affect a large majority of people. It can cause pimples, affecting a variety of areas on the body including the face, neck, chest, shoulders and back. This disease frequently affects individuals during their teenage years. However, it is not uncommon to find older adults who are afflicted with acne. There has been no definite proof on what really causes acne. Besides hormonal changes, some of the other reasons that have been commonly attributed to increasing the chances include fatty or oily foods or even dirty skin. However, none of these reasons have been scientifically proven to be the real cause of acne but only increase the chances or severity of the disease.
There is said to be no cure for acne but there are ways of making the condition more manageable. The spa has a number of acne facial treatment options available to treat the mild from the most severe forms of acne. In addition to the severity, it is also important to consider the location, the number, size, depth of the acne scars and even cost of the treatment itself. A combination of these factors will determine which of the available treatments may be the best for the situation.
When it comes to facial scar treatment for acne, there are several types. One is known as the facial laser treatment. Treatments may fall under two major categories: resurfacing or ablative lasers and non-ablative lasers. The first category involves removing the uppermost layers of the person’s skin. As the individual undergoes the procedure, the scar tissue is burned away. This stimulates the production of collagen, tightening the skin, reducing the number of scars being skin. Some of the lasers used include YAG and carbon dioxide. As the skin is exposed, great care must be taken to protect the area from infection. Redness around the area may last from several months to a year.
The second type of laser facial skin treatment involves non-abltaive lasers. The lasers used in these procedures do not damage the epidermis yet still induce changes within the skin. These lasers heat up the sebaceous gland and collagen, tightening the skin. As there is less damage on the skin, the procedure can be performed with shorter healing times. Some of the lasers used in this type of procedure include the FDA approved Smoothbeam, the N-Lite and the yellow pulse dye laser. Each session lasts for about an hour, once a month for a total of three months.
Other treatments which do not involve lasers include fillers, punch excision, subcision, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. There are also over-the-counter and prescription medication available for treating acne. As some of the stronger medications are composed of chemicals, consumers are advised to select products which contain all-natural products instead. Besides being cheaper, all-natural treatments are safer to use and more effective.
